With two very different cycling brands joining forces, the task was to create a new visual identity for the collaborative team trip. Dubbed ‘High & Bound’, an identity paying homage to the vintage postcards of San Francisco was formed. With a psychedelic and vibrant approach to this age old format the graphics utilised everything from classic SF locations, vintage stamps, watermarks and fun facts about one of the world’s largest airport terminals. The website incorporated an Instagram page populated by images linked with the #highandbound hash-tag, thus allowing team managers, riders and the general public to easily share their photos of events from the road.

For Volume II the magazine required an update to its visual identity for the coming year. All staff involved wanted to see the publication take on a new lease of life for it’s second edition whilst remaining true to the initial design concept. The second volume’s Identity took on board the new feedback and requirements, applying them to an updated visual language. The major change was the use of a custom Sans Serif title font which sat in balance within the updated grid system. The base line grid was shifted to improve the legibly of large bodies of editorial whilst including a monospaced type to clearly separate out article information and captions. The custom Albion Grotesk was allowed to utilise a number of its playful alternative characters.
The Albion is printed on FSC approved uncoated paper sourced from sustainable forest. In 2012 the publication was included in the Tinta de la Casa magazine symposium ‘Geeks, Freaks and Fanboys: Magazines For Niche Interests’ exhibition in Barcelona, Madrid and Berlin.

Created to combat the short term longevity of web based BMX projects, for 2012 Éclat grouped all it’s trips under one umbrella identity ‘Free And Sleazy’. Tasked with developing the creative identity for this year long project, the visuals needed to adapt to everything from print ads, video titles, tour posters, website take overs and more. The brand took its team on the road for three very different trips. First to California, followed by China and finally through Europe culminating in 3 final videos. Each trip developed a dedicated full screen responsive microsite, giving the the general public an in-depth behind the scenes view of life on the road. The project concluded with a 30min DVD merging all the separate trips into one visual experience.

Working closely with studio leader Stefan Gandl the collaboration set out to give the Berlin based design studio a much needed online facelift. Archiving the past decade of Neubau the responsive site, allowing for logical filtering of the vast number of projects into six organised categories. User experience was priority so we added keypad operated slideshows and reduced the number of clicks by adding a complete project archive on every page. The subtle use of colour throughout the site playfully changes every time a new page is visited.

The Albion is a free 148 page bi-monthly publication distributed throughout the UK, Canada and United States. The magazine aims to reinvigorate BMX media, reinstating the authority of the printed word and celebrating all that is great about bicycle motocross.
Focused on showcasing high end photography and in-depth editorial articles, the content is based around BMX culture and its personalities. The publishers required a visual language and layout to match their strong editorial ethics. The need for a consistent, clean and sophisticated image developed the publications graphical identity. For volume one (Issues 1- 6) the photography was large, using a playful grid system, finished off with elegant title typography.
